Additional hours for FHS (also qualify for International Skills Diploma)
Volunteer at an ICSAtlanta (International Elementary School in Roswell) this Sunday, May 6 from 4 - 7pm. They are having a French Heritage Festival called "La Kermesse" and need volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, selling baked goods, face painting, etc. Find out more about the school (including directions) using the link below. Hours for allLog sheets (available on this webpage + hanging in a folder outside of classroom 2725) are due by Friday, May 4. Here is a summary of the events and activities for which students have been able to earn hours. The majority of your hours should be Cambridge High School activities with Cambridge High School FHS and planned by our FHS so that we can maintain a cohesive group with attendance at our own functions and events. Additional opportunities to earn hours are available but only upon pre-approval. Please see Mme LeClair-Ash if you have done French-related activities that you feel would qualify.
*Children's book drive (1 hour for 3 books. Maximum of 3 hours/9 books earned for book drive). For SeniorsSeniors, please be sure that you have a total of 10 hours that qualify as FHS events. Read the "Hours for All" and communicate with Mme LeClair-Ash by Wednesday, April 25 if you are having difficulty. As mentioned during several meetings every year, only students who have paid dues and are active (earning 10 hours of approved FHS service) their Senior year may wear a French Honor Society cord for graduation. The last day to pay dues was extended three times, with the final deadline near the end of January. Once students turn in their 10 hour log sheets by Friday, May 4, we will relay information about the payment for the graduation cord, which will cost between $6 and $13.

1. Sign up to conduct a conversation class in English using the online videoconferencing tool called "Zoom". Use the sign-up genius below to sign up. You will earn 1 hour for each 30 minute session. Please also see Mme LeClair-Ash prior to doing this for a brief training. These hours will count toward the International Skills Diploma Seal:

2. to create a playlist of appropriate French music on your cellphone (1 hour for every 5 songs with max of 3 hours). Capture image of playlist and send to Mme or show it to her.
3. watch a French movie (see Mme L-A for appropriate films) and have a parent send Mme LeClair-Ash an email stating that you watched it in French. (2 hours)
4. Prepare a French recipe and serve it to your family and send a picture to Mme LeClair-Ash (time on task - anywhere from 1 - 3 hours)
5. Eat/drink with friends or family at a French restaurant or café and send a picture to Mme LeClair-Ash (1 - 2 hours)

Movie "La Gloire de Mon Père"
On Wednesday, April 25, FHS and French Club will have a combined movie event after school in Mme Cook's classroom at 3:45. Students will watch the film "La Gloire de Mon Père". Students who stay for the entire movie will earn 2 hours. Students who bring food or drink to share with at least 2 dozen other students can earn 1 hour of service.
French Honor Society Induction ceremony
On Thursday evening, March 22 from 6:30 - 8pm in the theatre, new students will be inducted into the French, Latin and Spanish Honor Societies. Students will earn service hours for the following...

Mardi gras fundraiser
to benefit english school in haiti
French Honor Society students will be selling Mardi Gras beads on Friday, Feb. 9, Monday, Feb. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 13 in the cafeteria during lunch periods. We will also be having a bake sale before school on Mardi Gras (Tuesday, Feb. 13) in two areas of the building: picnic table in the courtyard + desk at front entrance at the top of the spiral staircase. Profits from the fundraiser will benefit an English school in Haiti, called HHP English Institute.
Students can earn hours (10 are needed for the year) for yearly FHS requirements for service. These activities will also count toward hours required for the ISDS (International Skills Diploma Seal). To help with the fundraiser, please use the button below to use Sign-up Genuis.

Sign-up below to bake or buy treats for the Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) Bake Sale that will take place on the morning of 2/13- Mardi Gras. The profits will be used to help a new English school in Hinche, Haiti that French Honor Society has partnered with. The treats can be dropped off in Madame Le Clair-Ash's classroom (2725) on Monday or before 7:30 am on Tuesday. Students will receive 1 club hour for providing a treat. Please be sure to say what treat you plan on bringing!
HHP English Institute
Cambridge High School French Honor Society is partnering with HHP English Institute in Hinche, Haiti to provide support for their English school. To learn more about this outreach opportunity, click on the button below.
10 service hours per year Log SheetTen French service hours per year are required to maintain membership in FHS. These hours can be earned by attending FHS events and functions and by doing pre-approved outreach and volunteer work through FHS.

Children's book drive to benefit english school in Haiti
French Honor Society will be holding a children's book drive for students who are learning English in Haiti. The book drive is being held from Oct. 16 - November 10. Bins are located in the front office, the media center and in classroom 2725. We are most in need of children's book with pictures but will accept any books for children and early adolescents.

Please come to room 2725 for an application (hanging outside the classroom door) and turn in to Mme LeClair-Ash. Applications can also be accessed by downloading. For French Honor Society Executive board, preference will be given to students who are currently in French classes this year or are involved in French activities, such as the Cambridge French Exchange.
